Both parliamentary and presidential candidates are gearing up for the December 2024 general elections.

In anticipation of this, GhanaWeb focuses on key areas of the parliamentary contest and other related issues.

One such area is the contest of incumbent female MPs in key constituencies.

Today’s feature highlights the Korle Klottey Constituency, where Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings is the sitting Member of Parliament.

Korle Klottey is one of the constituencies represented in the Parliament of Ghana.

In 1992, Nathan Tetteh Mensah represented the constituency under the EGLE Party.

In 1996, David Lamptey won the seat for the National Democratic Congress until 2000, when Nii Adu Daku Mante of the New Patriotic Party came in to led the constituency.

He stayed on until 2008 when Nii Armah Ashietey of the National Democratic Congress unseated him.

Since then, the seat has been held by the NDC, with Ashietey still at the helm until 2016 when the oldest daughter Ghana’s f
irst president in the fourth republic, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, took over.

Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings has since retained the seat.

In the 2024 elections, she faces competition from Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, the parliamentary candidate of the NPP, who, in 2016 contested the seat as an independent candidate but lost.

As a way of knowing these personalities a little closer, here are their profiles.
