Prominent figures and party supporters and loyalists Saturday morning showcased their allegiance to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in a vibrant display of signature colours at the University of Education, Winneba, where the party is scheduled to launch its manifesto.
Despite the intermittent showers of rain, the numerous supporters and dignitaries, clad in the party’s signature colours: black, red, white and green, continue to arrive from across the country to witness the historic manifesto launch.
The 5,000-capacity Josphus Anamuah Conference Centre at the University appears well-prepared, amidst tight security, for the event.
With ‘Unity, Stability, and Development’ as the motto, the NDC has taken over the capital of the Effutu Municipality, a stronghold of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Central Region, as it prepares to launch its blueprint that it expects to restore hope.
The massive crowd at the venue seems to add to the ancient city’s sprawling 60,000 population, causing traffic conge
stion and crowded streets, though the police are effectively managing the situation.
It is difficult for one to miss the picturesque created by the sea of party souvenirs on display, including hats, fans, sandals, wristbands, scarfs, flags, and T-shirts, as one journeys through the half-kilometre route from the Winneba-Junction to the University Campus.
Trees, utility poles, vehicles and street furniture have been adorned in the NDC colours contributing to the spectacle of a charged political atmosphere.
That is besides the beautifully adorned horses parading the venue as the riders put up performances to the delight of the enthusiastic spectators.
The large numbers of the youth, particularly the ladies, dressed in jeans and party T-shirts and walking in pairs, holding the elaborately decorated umbrellas, added another splendour to the electrifying atmosphere.

Mr Ernest Smith Forson, a party loyalist from Sekondi, Western Region, said: ‘The youth epitomise the present and future of the umbrella family and the promising aspirations of Ghana as a whole.’
Meanwhile, vendors of party merchandise and memorabilia confirmed to the Ghana News Agency of making record sales.
John Mensah, a vendor, said: ‘I noticed a significant increase in sales overnight and this morning. I sold out of my merchandise, and I am now selling an order I just received.’
A multitude of photographers are enjoying a productive day as they criss-crossed each other’s path to capture images of dignitaries, acquaintances and other memorable moments.
