Guibai Gatama who was dismissed from the executive committee of Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT has celebrated the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) rendered on Tuesday 15th August 2023 against FECAFOOT and favouring their claims by pronouncing the cancellation of all resolutions of the FECAFOOT General Assembly of August 27th 2022.
“I take note of this decision which fully rehabilitates me and restores my place as a full member of the Executive Committee of FECAFOOT, elected on December 11, 2021. Beyond my own case, I welcome the rehabilitation of François Kouedem as elected President of the West Regional League, unjustly suspended by the President of FECAFOOT,” Guibai Gatama reacted via a press release he issued on Tuesday August 15.
The cancellation of the dissolution of the Professional Football League of Cameroon (LFPC) to Guibai Gatama implies the restoration of all organs put in place in August 2021 and whose mandates had
been unjustly revoked.
Furthering his reaction, Gatama spelled out that CAS, in point 123 of its verdict, noted Eto’o’s ineligibility to be the federation’s President following his sentencing on June 20, 2022, to 20 months in
imprisonment for tax evasion in Spain. The Arbitration Panel however referred responsibility for the vacancy notice to an extra-ordinary general assembly of FECAFOOT.
“Above all, I rejoice in the triumph of law and re-affirmation of respect for the statutes and regulations as a cornerstone of sports governance that football actors have been wishing for” Guibai Gatama concluded.
