30 Christmas babies get gifts from MTN in Central Region


More than 30 New babies born on the eve of Christmas, have received special hampers from MTN Ghana in the Central Region, on Boxing Day.

The telecommunication company, aside celebrating the newborn babies, also welcomed them into the yellow family.

The gifts worth thousands of cedis included baby diapers, Cussons set, towels, antiseptics, powder, feeding bottles and soap.

The rest were detergents, sponge, wipes, after wash and dresses.

Three Hospitals; Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Apam Government Hospital and Asamankese Government Hospital which is part of MTN region.

Mr Francis Gyan, the Area Sales Manager, MTN Ghana said it formed part of its corporate social responsibility to the public by giving back to the society.

‘After His birth, Jesus was gifted by the three wise men, thus, the motivation to sow a seed in the lives of children born on Christmas Day,’ he noted.

Mr Gyan indicated that MTN was committed to assisting its customers and country at large to develop.

Mrs Regina Arkaifie, the Human
Resource Manager, South, advised the mothers to take good care of their babies.

She told them that giving birth on Christmas eve was a blessing, thus the babies should be well taken care of to achieve their mission on earth.

A new mother, Mrs Patience Hagan, who could not control her joy and emotion expressed gratitude to MTN for the gesture and support.

‘Being my first birth on Christmas eve, I feel blessed and happy to give birth to second Jesus’

She recounted the difficulties she encountered after marriage, saying her baby represented God in her life and thanked God for the miracle.

Madam Mary Kwofie who said it was her ninth birth, also thanked MTN for the gifts and was proud to be part of the beneficiaries of MTN Christmas giveaways.

AFCON 2023: Indomitable Lions to play last friendly against Copper BulletsAccra 2023 LOC takes awareness campaign to Takoradi

The Indomitable Lions will face the Copper Bullets of Zambia in a friendly on January 9, 2024, in Saudi Arabia.

The encounter will serve as a final tune-up for both teams prior to the Africa Cup of Nations.

The two teams have so far met five times, with the Indomitable Lions winning twice, drawing once, and losing on two occasions. Majority of the encounters have been competitive, including World Cup qualifiers.

The Copper Bullets are in Group F of the AFCON, along with Morocco, DR Congo and Tanzania, while the Indomitable Lions are in Group C with Senegal, Guinea, and Gambia.

In addition to Zambia and Cameroon, eight other friendly matches are scheduled prior to the tournament. Nigeria will play two friendlies against Burkina Faso and Cape Verde. Ghana will face Botswana, while the Pharaohs of Egypt will play against Tanzania.

Other pairings include Burkina Faso versus the Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal versus Niger, and Angola against Guinea Bissau.

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the 13th Africa Games, has taken its awareness campaign to the Western Region, after a massive take off in Accra.

The LOC on Monday, December 25, joined thousands of masqueraders in Takoradi for the 2023 Christmas Carnival, as they marched through town with flyers, banners of the competition which is expected to attract over 50 African countries.

Leading the campaign was Tumu Masqueraders, who led the float through some principal streets in Takoradi before converging at the Market Circle, amidst music and dance.

The huge crowd dressed in their colourful attire, displayed their unique dancing skills with arts and culture to mark the festival as well as promote the 13th edition of the African Games in Takoradi.

Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, Executive Chairman of the LOC in an interview with the media said the Christmas Carnival was part of the plans to publicize the African Games in the country, adding that though the Games would be held in Accra, there was the need to whip
up the enthusiasm of the entire country to support it.

He said the LOC, together with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and other entities would do their best to make the games a memorable one.?

According to Dr. Ofosu Asare, the LOC would involve the various groups in the region in the Games.

Th is the second float to be organized by the LOC after staging a similar one on Saturday, December 24, in Accra.

The continental party is scheduled for Friday March 8, 2024, to Saturday March 23, 2024.?
