Conference of Police Commissioners in Kadiogo Focuses on Security Landscape Changes

Kadiogo: The fifth conference of police commissioners commenced under the leadership of Divisional Police Commissioner Mahamadou SANA, who also serves as the Minister of Security. The theme of the conference is “The national police in light of the changes in the security landscape of Burkina Faso.”

According to Burkina Information Agency, the conference is scheduled for two days, from September 30 to October 1, and is established by Article 196 of Law 027. It provides a statutory framework for exchanges, retrospection, and proposals aimed at improving the functioning of the national police.

In his opening remarks, Minister Mahamadou SANA emphasized that the conference serves as “a laboratory of ideas and a moment of strategic sharing.” The goal is to formulate solutions to security challenges, with a particular focus on combating terrorism. He encouraged the commissioners to “rethink intervention mechanisms, modernize methods, and strengthen cooperation with other defense and security forces,” to ensure that every Burkinabe citizen feels secure across the nation.

The conference proceedings, which include communications and panels, will concentrate on change management within the context of security sector reform, inter-service cooperation, skill adaptation, and the integration of new technologies. A tribute was also paid to the defense and security forces, as well as to the volunteers who have contributed to the defense of the homeland.
