Faso Foot Ligue 1: Sporting FC de Banfora Takes Lead After Second Day


Ouagadougou: Sporting des Cascades football club of Banfora now occupies the leading position in Faso Foot Ligue 1 (Burkinabe first division football championship) after its 2-0 victory away to Ziniare against Sporting club Majestic, during the 2nd day played last weekend.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the Banfora team (Sporting FC) stole the show from the Gabelous of AS Douanes who had been the only team to win on the first day. This time, AS Douanes split the pear in two on this second day against the Colombes of Salitas FC in a pleasant match at the Issoufou Joseph Conombo municipal stadium that ended 2-2.



ASFA-Y emerged victorious against the playful but clumsy Real du Faso team with a score of 1-0, while EFO went to Bobo to draw with AJEB. There was no winner between Vitesse and CFFEB at the Wobi stadium in Bobo-Dioulasso with a 1-1 result.



The matches between RCK vs. USFA and RCB vs. Rahimo FC have been postponed to a later date due to an interclub match of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).



The results of the 2nd day are as follows: AJEB drew with EFO 1-1, ASFB overcame AS SONABEL with a 1-0 victory, Sporting FC defeated SC Majestic 2-0, RFA lost to ASFA-Y 0-1, AS Douanes and Salitas FC ended in a 2-2 draw, and Vitesse FC drew with CFFEB 1-1.



The rankings at the end of the 2nd day place Sporting FC at the top with 4 points (+2), followed by AS Douanes, ASFA-Y, and ASFB all tied at 4 points (+1). EFO, Salitas FC, and AJEB share the 5th spot with 2 points each. RCK and Vitesse FC each have 1 point, while CFFEB, RFA, and AS SONABEL also have 1 point each, but with a lower goal difference. SC Majestic holds 13th place with 1 point (-2), and Rahimo FC, USFA, and RCB are yet to score any points, each having played two less matches.



The program for the 3rd day is set for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with fixtures slated to continue the competition.
