Koulse Public Conference Highlights Role of Muslims in Social Cohesion


Kaya: The Federation of Islamic Associations of Burkina (FAIB) of the Koulse region organized a regional public conference on September 27, 2025, at the Kaya multipurpose hall, focusing on “Social cohesion: place and role of the Muslim.” The event gathered administrative, religious, and community figures and commenced with a Quranic reading.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the Governor of the Koulse region, Colonel-Major Zoewendmanego Blaise Ouedraogo, who was the ceremony’s patron, expressed his appreciation for the initiative. He noted that it plays a significant role in raising awareness about the challenges of social cohesion and living together. He encouraged each participant to act as an ambassador of peace and brotherhood.



The conference featured presentations on the role of Muslims in society. Dr. Tidiane Ouedraogo highlighted the importance of solidarity, respect, and education, emphasizing Islam’s advocacy for peaceful coexistence and love for one’s neighbor beyond religious differences. Cheick Mohamed Lamine Deme addressed misconceptions about Jihad, clarifying that true Jihad represents a struggle for peace, cohesion, and defending the homeland. Similarly, Imam Abdou Samad Ouedraogo stressed the importance of unity among the six Muslim communities to promote solidarity and peace. Cheick Abdou Rahamane Sawadogo underscored that peace is essential for practicing faith and urged Muslims to love Burkina Faso and contribute to its development.



The conference, which showcased the role of Muslims in fostering social cohesion and patriotism, was well-received by participants as a productive platform for promoting a peaceful and prosperous Burkina Faso.
