Ouangaladougou Residents Unite to Restore Critical Niangoloko Road

Ouagadougou: The population of Ouangolodougou-Burkina mobilized strongly this Monday to rehabilitate the road linking their village to the capital of the commune, Niangoloko, via Timperba and Yendere.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this road, of capital importance for trade, presents numerous deteriorations over 15 km. For the occasion, all the tricycles of the village were requisitioned, and groups of volunteers could be seen working on each damaged section to the rhythm of the sound of the Kora. “It is a pride for us to come together to rehabilitate this road after our resettlement. We cannot expect everything from the State, because the State is also us,” declared Mamadou Sirima, the president of the CVD of the village of Ouangolodougou.

While acknowledging the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traore and the actions of the defense and security forces that enabled the resettlement of the populations, Mr. Sirima emphasized the importance of the road for local commerce. He noted that Ouangolodougou
and the villages south of Niangoloko are essential for the commune’s agriculture. With the end of the winter season approaching, improved road conditions will allow for better access to markets, facilitating the sale of products such as corn, millet, rice, and sesame.

Furthermore, a functional road will enhance the transportation of food products to local markets and enable traders and transporters to reduce costs and increase the frequency of their trade activities. This could open the area to buyers from Banfora, Bobo Dioulasso, and even neighboring Ivory Coast. Ultimately, such improvements are expected to boost the prosperity of local businesses and improve the living conditions of residents through stable incomes and increased purchasing power.

The CVD president expressed gratitude for the strong support of the population for this initiative, highlighting that without such community efforts, the village would remain difficult to access.
