Togolese Community in Tenkodogo Donates Building Materials to Faso Mebo

Ouagadougou: The Association of Togolese Nationals Living in Tenkodogo donated building materials to the Faso Mebo Brigade on Tuesday morning. This gesture, valued at approximately 300,000 CFA francs, adds to a total financial mobilization of 400,000 CFA francs, of which 100,000 francs were sent to the High Council of Togolese Abroad (HCTE) to be handed over to the highest authorities in Burkina Faso, as a contribution to the peace effort.

According to Burkina Information Agency, during the ceremony, the representative of the Governor of the region, Sami Berenger Pooda, praised “a very useful gesture that must be encouraged.” He noted that “this is practically the fifth time that the Togolese community has taken such an action, sometimes participating in social cohesion activities, sometimes in the cleaning of institutions, and today through this contribution to Faso Mebo.”

Mr. Pooda added that “this gesture is above all for yourselves, because it is your city that is becoming more beautiful.” He also thanked the Togolese nationals for their continued support for the efforts of His Excellency President Ibrahim Traore, who, he recalled, “fights every day for the defense and progress of our country.”

The authority finally invited the community to remain engaged in citizen initiatives: “Let’s stay united, let’s continue to mobilize. You are at home here, among your brothers. No one will exclude you, because you are Africans and it is together that we will build the future,” he insisted.

For his part, the president of the Association of Togolese of Tenkodogo, Stephane Agnigbagno Kodjo, explained that this gesture was inspired by the national anthem of Togo: “Its last sentence says: Togolese, come and build the city. Since the authorities of Burkina Faso launched this initiative, we have found ourselves fully in this dynamic and have deemed it necessary to put this exhortation into practice.”

The in-kind donation consisted of a granite cutting truck, a ton of cement, and two cans of engine oil to facilitate demolding. The financial contribution was presented to His Majesty Naaba Guigmpole, Dima of Zoungrantenga, King of Tenkodogo, before being officially handed over to the administrative authorities.

According to Mr. Kodjo, these initiatives are part of the continuity of the actions carried out by the community: “We recently paid a courtesy visit to the King of Tenkodogo to seek his blessings and advice. We also participated in the cleaning of the town hall courtyard, took part in social cohesion activities and, just three days ago, attended a prayer for peace in the royal courtyard.”

“Wherever local authorities initiate actions, the Togolese community strives to take part, to show that we are also committed citizens, concerned with contributing to the common well-being,” he concluded.

With these symbolic but significant donations, the Togolese community of Tenkodogo reaffirms its full integration into social and civic life. By supporting the Faso Mebo Brigade, participating in the national peace effort, and assisting local authorities, it demonstrates its attachment to Burkina Faso, a welcoming land, and strengthens the spirit of African brotherhood.
