Nick Ball sinks Isaac Dogboe’s world title hopes with decision win

Ghanaian boxer Isaac ‘Royal Storm’ Dogboe (25-4, 15KOs) suffered a unanimous decision loss against undefeated British boxer Nick Ball in Saturday’s World Boxing Council (WBC) featherweight world title eliminator.

It was Dogboe’s fourth career loss, as the British boxing prodigy dominated the bout at the OA Arena in Manchester, United Kingdom.

After the highly entertaining bout, all three judges scored the fight 119-108, 116-111, and 118-109, all in favour of Nick Ball, who is guaranteed a world title shot in the coming months.

Dogboe, who is a former WBO super bantamweight champion, started the bout very well with some good jabs, but Ball’s compact style, great defence, and effectively using the jabs kept Dogboe at bay.

In the fourth round, Ball scored a knockdown over Dogboe in what seemed like a push.

Overall, Dogboe had his chance to dictate the game, but Ball was much more powerful than the Ghanaian boxer and held on to secure the win to stay undefeated in 19 bouts.

It was Dogboe’s second defeat i
n 2023 after he unfortunately lost to Cuban southpaw Robeisy Ramirez in April for the vacant WBO featherweight title.

2026 FIFA WCQ: ‘This is my most disappointing moment in football’ – Madagascar coach livid after loss to Ghana

Madagascar coach Romuald Rakotondrabe is disappointed after his side lost 1-0 to Ghana in Group I’s first game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Inaki Williams grabbed his first and only goal for Ghana in the 90+6 minutes to give the Black Stars the needed win over the Bareas.

The Athletic Bilbao forward Williams connected a fantastic cross from Gideon Mensah to deliver a powerful header to deny hard-nut to break Madagascar a vital away point.

After the game, coach Rakontondrabe praised his charges for a good show, however expressed disappointment in their loss of concentration in the dying minutes of the game.

‘The boys started very well, in the first 45 minutes where we had some chances but we couldn’t bury it. In the second half, our goalkeeper saved us and we were hopi
ng to get a point but that last-minute goal spoilt it. I can’t even find the right words to express it,’ said the Bareas coach.

Ghana is in second place in the group behind Comoros who defeated Central Africa Republic 4-2.

Coach Chris Hughton would regroup his players as they play guest to Comoros on Tuesday, November 21.

The first half of the game started off slowly but it was Bofoakwa’s Elijah Addae who failed to convert a glorious opportunity in the 25th minute, placing the ball directly into the hands of Daniel Afadzwu, the Nsoatreman goalkeeper.
