KC46 will be announced by UFC Hall of Famers Georges St-Pierre (GSP) and Bas Rutten, alongside Mike Majlak, author and co-host of the Impaulsive podcast.

Karate Combat is the first professional sports league governed and gamified by a token, the $KARATE token. Every fan can participate in the league by downloading Karate Combat’s iOS and Android apps.

In the week leading up to KC46, the league plans to hold special events at the city’s most iconic landmarks, including a fighters’ press conference featuring the Museum of the Future and face-offs in front of the Dubai Frame. Karate Combat’s signature 3D VFX background will also feature Dubai’s skyline with an exciting futuristic twist.

Asim Zaidi, President of Karate Combat League, said: “It’s very much our goal to shock the combat sports world with every single event we do. And I have to say our event in Dubai we’re planning will absolutely break the internet! Nobody entertains like we do, and with DET and DSC’s support, we’re about to shake up the world of combat sports. Stay tuned!”

Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment – Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, said: “KC46 is an exciting addition to Dubai’s year-round calendar of business, leisure and sporting events. As host of many major championships and tournaments, Dubai has grown into a leading sports tourism destination, with KC46 serving to further consolidate the city’s status as an international events hub. We are keen for this prestigious league to be successful, and for this to be the beginning of more continuity and successes for the event.”

Saeed Hareb further added: “Since the beginning of this year, Dubai has hosted many international tournaments in various sports, and there is no doubt that the fans of karate and martial arts in general deserve to have a global event presented as that gives them an opportunity to see the stars of this sport while acting as a motivation for all practitioners of this sport in the country. The UAE is home to varied communities from more than 200 nationalities from across the globe, and each of them has their own favorite sports they are keen to follow and watch the stars,” Saeed Hareb added.

Chief of Esiama urges politicians to desist from insults, personal attacks

Nana Ainoo-Kwagyan III, Chief of Esiama in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region, has advised politicians and their supporters, especially the youth, to desist from insults and personal attacks of their opponents in the run up to this year’s general elections.

He said it was important to run clean campaigns based on current issues, and not indulge in actions that could disrupt the peace and unity in the country.

He said this when Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle, called on him at his palace at Esiama in the Western Region.

Nana Ainoo-Kwagyan said: ‘What political parties must do is to use their platforms to explain their policies to the electorate without insults, vilifications and attacks because such actions have the potential to plunge the nation into chaos. ‘

He continued: ‘Political parties must conduct peaceful campaigns to the extent that after the elections, the winners or losers should be able to call their opponents to congratulate them in a bid t
o foster peace, love, unity and development.’

He reminded MPs to constantly be in touch with their constituents and explain bills passed into law to help them appreciate their work as MPs.

Mr Buah, for his part, thanked the Chief for the advice, and said his party would work towards ensuring peace before, during and after the elections.

He, however, called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to stop introducing some policies, which were new to the country’s electoral process.

He polled 12 yes votes, representing 63.3 per cent out of the total 19 votes.

There were no rejected ballots.

By this percentage, the Assembly would reconvene within 10 days to decide his fate.

The election was supervised by the Adaklu District Office of the Electoral Commission.

Dr Archibald Letsa, the Volta Regional Minister, addressing the Assembly before voting began, entreated the members to consider the larger interest of the district to endorse the nominee.

He said the absence of a DCE would retard the progress of the area ‘so, I’m appealing to you to make an informed decision that would bring the needed development.’

Present at the meeting were the Regional Coordinating Director, Mr Sylvanus Plans, traditional rulers and party big wigs of both the ruling New Patriotic Party and the opposition National Democratic Co

Krachi West MP pledges solar lamps for health workers, teachers in island communities

Poor access to affordable and sustainable technologies for lighting is a major hindrance to most government workers living on island communities in Krachi West Municipality of the Oti Region.

Madam Helen Adjoa Ntoso, the Member of Parliament (MP) of Krachi West, has, therefore, pledged solar lamps and lanterns to improve visibility at night and the lives of rural workers without access to the national electricity grid in the constituency.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), she said this would be an alternative source of light for health officials and teachers in peninsula and island communities to attend to patients and prepare lesson notes.

The lawmaker said the support of the solar lamps and lanterns to the peninsula communities will be her personal contributions for the socio-economic development of the area.

She appealed to both nurses and teachers to willingly accept posting to rural and deprived areas to save lives.

The MP said their services were needed not only in the cities but also at the
deprived areas of the country to save human-beings.
