Coach Ogum absent as irate fans storm Adako Jachie to register their displeasure

Prosper Nartey Ogum Head Coach of Asante Kotoko and his entire technical team did not show up the club’s training ground on Tuesday.

Irate fans stormed the place to register their displeasure over the poor performance of the team in the Ghana Premier League.

The fans numbering about 15 arrived at the Adako JachieTraining Complex in a mini van ahead of the team bus at about 1440 hours, a source told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) Sports in Kumasi.

About 20 minutes later, the team bus arrived and for more 10 minutes, the players were seated in the bus, fuelling a tensed atmosphere as the fans patiently waited for them to get out of the bus.

When they finally came down, they were verbally abused by the fans but none of them was attacked as they walked onto the pitch without the technical team.

Some of the aggrieved fans, according to the source, were heard asking the whereabouts of the coach on top of their voices, apparently to confront him on the lack of results in the ongoing premier league.

Despite the ch
aos and confusion outside the pitch, the players were seen warming up ahead of their training programme of the day but had to stop at some point when it became clear the technical team was not coming.

After losing to Dreams FC at Dawu on Sunday, supporters of Asante Kotoko have been calling for the resignation of Coach Ogum and his technical team to save the club from further sinking on the league table.

There have also been rumours of a possible invasion of the training ground by supporting to block the embattled coach from performing his duties in the local media since Monday.

It is believed that the coach and his backroom staff might have picked information about the intended disruption of their work hence their decision not to show up at training today.

As to whether they would be allowed to prepare the team for their next game against Samartex remains uncertain.

Ghana’s Futsal AFCON campaign ends with three defeats

Ghana’s hopes of advancing to the next round of the 2024 Futsal Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has been shattered following their 11-3 loss to Angola in the last group match.

Ghana has suffered some devastating losses at the ongoing tournament as they were pummeled by hosts Morocco and Zambia in their opening two matches.

Ghana’s national futsal team, heading into their last match against the Sable Antelopes of Angola, were confident of a big scalp that could propel them to the knockout stages.

But Coach Philip Boakye and his lads fell short of upsetting the odds despite a good display of futsal skills in a pulsating encounter against the Angolans.

Ghana thus exits the tournament with no points, while Angola and Morocco progress from Group A to the next round.

This was Ghana’s second appearance at the Futsal AFCON, with their debut in 1996 having made an impressive run to the finals, where they lost to Egypt.

Samuel Eto’o summoned by CAF investigation panel for alleged favoritism

FECAFOOT President, Samuel Eto’o, has been summoned by the investigation panel of the Confederation of African Football (CAF)

Eto’o will be expected in Cairo Egypt on Wednesday April 17 to defend himself from allegations of favouritism towards certain local teams in Cameroon.

According to reports from Africa Intelligence, Suspicions are focused on Victoria United of limbe, champions of the 2022-2023 season in the Elite Two championship in Cameroon whose president, Valentin Nkwain, is close to Samuel Eto’o.

This brings up the allegations back in 2023 where a voicemail of the Fecafoot president and Victoria United president was circulated on social media.

However, it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold with the call coming at a delicate moment when Samuel Eto’o is just returning from his father’s burial.

Cameroonian actor Daniel Nsang faces cyber backlash as private video circulates online

By Charity Nginyu

Cameroonian actor Daniel Nsang has become the latest target of cyber backlash after a video of him surfaced online.

The video, which has been circulating on WhatsApp groups for the past 24 hours, shows Nsang asleep with sensitive parts exposed.

In the footage, Nsang can be seen resting, wearing only a tank top, unaware that he was being filmed by the person he had been allegedly intimate with. The invasion of his privacy has sparked outrage among netizens and public figures alike.

Renowned communicator Kelly John Officiel expressed his dismay, stating, ‘What cruelty! Why seek to tarnish someone’s image to this extent? Regardless, this act against Daniel Nsang deserves condemnation. It’s unbelievable. Before being a public figure, he is human, and his privacy must be respected!’

Pascaline Raïssa Malla, a Facebook user condemned the act as ‘cruel and senseless’ as she called for strict enforcement of cybercrime laws.

The incident sheds light on the persistent issue of social media misus
e despite efforts by authorities to raise awareness.

In past years, the National Agency for Information and Communication (ANTIC) has been actively sensitizing citizens on the proper use of social media.

However, it appears that these efforts have fallen on deaf ears, as incidents of cyber harassment continue to occur.

Mr Nsang has not made any statement.

ASMAC Director suspends Journalism students over misconduct

By Charity Nginyu

François Marc Modzom, the Director of the Advanced School of Mass Communication(ASMAC), has suspended second-year Journalism students over misconduct.

The reason cited for this drastic measure was the prevalence of collective indiscipline within the class, which had reached alarming levels.

Recent revelations shed light on the gravity of the situation within the affected class. Incidents of theft, drug use, chronic absenteeism, and even accusations of witchcraft and homosexual activities are reported to have plagued the learning environment for months.

A few days back, two students were apprehended for stealing phones, with one phone successfully traced back to its owner.

Additionally, three laptops were reported stolen, further exacerbating tensions within the class.

The deteriorating situation, reports say prompted several instructors, including Modzom himself, to suspend their teaching activities in recent days, deeming the environment ‘untenable.’

With a total of 12 students now
facing disciplinary proceedings, the ESSTIC administration faces the daunting task of restoring order and discipline within the institution while addressing the issues that are contributing to the misconduct.

Donga Mantung: ADF fighters burn bikes for violation of ghost town

In a video that was posted online on Monday, April 15, 2024, from Donga Mantung, North West region, ADF fighters recently enforced a ghost town order by burning 12 bikes belonging to individuals who violated their directive.

‘We are in Nkambe, these civilians did not want to respect the ghost town, this is ADF life, we have seized all these bikes, no shaking…independence mean independence,’ a fighter said in a video, adding that they will subsequently reinforce their ghost town should it be violated.

The term ‘ghost town’ typically signifies a protest measure where activities are halted, often as a political statement. In conflict regions like Donga Mantung, such actions by armed groups can have significant implications for local populations and the ongoing dynamics of the conflict.

The fighters said they were from the Bui Brigade of the armed group.

On February 11, 2024, an explosive was detonated in Nkambe at the march-past event killing at least two children and injuring dozens. The Separatists who ha
ve been fighting for the independence of the Anglophone regions since 2016 claimed responsibility.
