They were summoned to appear before the West regional Gendarmerie Legion on Wednesday July 10, 2024.
Two executive members of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, political party, Albert Nzongang and André Marie Tassa, responded to the summons, but were not auditioned.
Barrister Serge Emmanuel Chendjou who accompanied them, informed the other members of the defense counsel that the Colonel Abba Saidou informed them that the Attorney general asked him not to audition anyone and allow them go home.
‘They are going home without any investigation.
No tag. No Receipt of Letter of Constitution of Advocate. No background checks. No notification of the facts supporting the criminal charges and having justified the opening of investigations. The case still remains a mystery! It’s not always known who’s behind these bizarre investigations.
In short, an abuse of the right to proceed, an abuse of duty of the military,’ the defense team noted.
The leader of the CRM, Maurice Kamto was expected to respond to the summons
on Thursday July 11, 2024, but he requested that the audition be postponed to August because he is out of the country. It is not clear if his audition shall take place.
