Ouagadougou: The Ministry of Sports, Youth and Employment donated work equipment worth 18,116,925 FCFA to the Faso Mebo Presidential Initiative on Saturday in Ouagadougou, AIB noted on site.
According to Burkina Information Agency, early this morning, the Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, Roland Somda, personally headed a large delegation to the former Lycee Philippe Zinda Kabore, headquarters of Faso Mebo, to make this donation. Minister Somda and his colleagues brought 100 tons of cement, a concrete mixer with a production capacity of 20m3/h, 50 20-liter drums of formwork oil, 30 250-liter drums for storing water, and 20 work vests.
The Minister of Sports explained that this equipment was obtained thanks to everyone’s contribution. “On August 12, during the celebration of International Youth Day, we launched the call for voluntary contributions to support the Faso Mebo Presidential Initiative. This call was made to young people, all sports organizations, and those involved in civic monitoring and
the informal economy sector. We responded to this call. We spoke from our hearts. This justifies our being here,” he said.
He added, “And this is not by chance,” noting the timing with the national days of patriotic commitment and civic participation, during which the Head of State emphasized commitment, civic-mindedness, discipline, and order.
The contribution is intended to bring the influence of youth, sports, and citizen monitoring and the informal economy to this initiative. Roland Somda urged everyone to ensure this gesture is not isolated. “When you are a citizen, you must be one for your entire life, you must be one around you, you must be one inside and outside the country,” he said.
After the equipment was handed over, Minister Somda and the delegation entered the premises to work in the 9 production workshops at the Faso Mebo site.
