Bamenda: A self-styled ‘commander’ of the Ambazonian Defense Force (ADF), known as JC but whose real name was Funwi Christopher, has been killed in an operation in Bamenda. JC was tracked down to a popular hotel in the city, where an exchange with defense and security forces resulted in his death.
According to Cameroon News Agency, JC was a former bodyguard of the late National Chairman of the Social Democratic Front (SDF) party, Ni John Fru Ndi. He had previously orchestrated the kidnapping of the late chairman on two occasions. JC’s involvement in numerous criminal activities in Bamenda, including kidnapping for ransom, killing, raping, and hijacking luxurious cars, had marked him as a notorious figure in the region.
He had assumed the position of ‘Commander’ of the ADF in Bamenda about three months ago, following the deaths of ‘General’ Weapon and ‘Colonel’ Mami. JC was also reportedly responsible for the killing of the Second Deputy Mayor of Bamenda II, Joko Freda, among other victims.
