Gomoa Obuasi: The Deputy Minister of Interior, Mrs. Naana Eyiah Quansah, has inaugurated a new District Police headquarters in Gomoa Obuasi, located in the Gomoa Central Constituency of the Central Region. This initiative includes the provision of a double cabin pick-up and two motorbikes to enhance the operational capabilities of the new police station. Additionally, Mrs. Quansah, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, unveiled another police station for the residents of Gomoa Pomadze and Gomoa Aseibu to address local crime issues.
According to Ghana News Agency, speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mrs. Quansah emphasized that these projects illustrate the government’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property in the region. She clarified that the purpose of constructing the police stations is not to facilitate unnecessary arrests, but to significantly reduce crime rates in the area. The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude towards the chiefs of Gomoa Obuasi for providing the
land necessary for the project, aligning with the government’s vision to enhance security infrastructure for the populace.
Mrs. Quansah reassured the chiefs and residents of Gomoa Central that the government remains committed to completing all ongoing developmental projects related to health, security, education, roads, and other social amenities, soliciting the community’s support for these initiatives. She expressed optimism that the local leaders and inhabitants would continue to support the administration under President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, praising their visionary leadership aimed at improving community welfare.
During the event, Mrs. Quansah also urged constituents to vote for her and Dr. Bawumia in the December 7, 2024 elections, advocating for continuity in the development agenda. Mr. Benjamin Kojo Otoo, the District Chief Executive for Gomoa Central, affirmed the government’s dedication to improving social amenities, criticizing political figures who have overlooked
the district’s developmental achievements. He highlighted the issue of land guard activities in the district, particularly in Pomadze, necessitating the establishment of a police station for effective management.
Mr. Otoo encouraged district residents to support Mrs. Quansah and Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming elections, ensuring continued good governance. ACP Francis Ntwor, Deputy Central Regional Commander of Police, praised the collaborative efforts of the MP and DCE in constructing the police stations, emphasizing the police administration’s commitment to working with the community to protect lives and property. ACP Ntwor urged officers to maintain professional conduct, especially in the current era of technological scrutiny, and stressed the importance of regular maintenance of police facilities.
Nana Odoom Amanfo V, representing the Omanhene of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, commended the government and local leaders for establishing the police facilities, which are expected to reduce criminal activi
ties in the communities. Acknowledging that Gomoa Central had lacked a dedicated police administration building for over a century, Nana Amanfo expressed appreciation for the government’s efforts and pledged continued support for future government initiatives aimed at enhancing community well-being.
