Douala: Twin brothers electrocuted, family in pain


Twin brothers aged 40, living at ‘dernier poteaux’ in the New Bell neighborhood, reported dead on Monday, May 6, 2024, are said to have died of electrocution and later burnt by flames that engulfed their home.

A witness told CNA that ‘an electric pole fell on their roof and sparked flames. One of the twins perceived a strange smell and climbed into the ceiling to check what it was. Unfortunately, he got electrocuted alongside his twin brother who tried to rescue him’.

Their bodies were found burnt by fire that consumed the entire house after rescue soldiers put out the flames.

‘After firefighters out the flames. We then went in checking and stumbled on the two corpses.’ The inhabitant added.

Their corpses are in a morgue pending burial.

Onlookers including inhabitants and passersby were gripped by shock, while relatives of the twins remained inconsolable.
