Medicinal Grove Established in Mogom-Noore on Communal Reforestation Day

Boulgou: The commune of Bittou celebrated the communal reforestation day in Mogom-Noore, about ten kilometers from Bittou, by planting several species of trees underground.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative led to the creation of a medicinal grove covering an area of 2 hectares, with a total of 600 medicinal plants of different species being planted. The objective of creating this grove is to contribute to greening the country, promoting medicinal plants, combating desertification, and also improving the living environment of the inhabitants, stressed Ouena Nyan, lieutenant of water and forests, head of the departmental water and forest service of Bittou.

"We were able to plant 600 plants of all species, such as the nere, the tamarind tree, and the baobab," he added. Mr. Ouena expressed his satisfaction with the mobilization of the population. He also thanked the authorities for their support in making the event a success and urged the population to properly maintain the grove.

Minoungou Hamidou, president of the Bittou gold miners' office, urged the population to properly monitor the grove and support the authorities for the initiative. "I'm happy when people talk about planting trees. You can't want to be sovereign without talking about plants," he stated.

Representatives of the chiefs of the villages of Mogom-Noore, Sambnaaba, Zampaligre, and Ayouba praised the authorities for their vision. They promised to support the protection of medicinal plants and maintained that a process would be initiated to close the grove, on behalf of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore.
