Namentenga/Boulsa Technical High School: Populations Affected by the Construction Project Demand Compensation

Namentenga: The High Commissioner of the province of Namentenga, Adama Conseiga, spoke for the first time on Thursday, September 4, 2025, with the owners of the concessions located on the axis of the wall of the Boulsa technical high school, which is under construction. For the occasion, the populations affected by the construction project demanded compensation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the populations affected by the construction project of the technical high school of Boulsa, in the province of Namentenga (Koulse), have been invited to respect the deadline to allow the company to build the boundary wall of the high school. The province's chief executive, Adama Conseiga, engaged in dialogue with the affected populations, who requested compensation for their concessions.

Adama Conseiga expressed a willingness to resolve the concerns of the people affected by the construction project. He clarified that no promises could be made at the moment, as the availability of land depends on the cooperation of landowners, including traditional and customary chiefs. He informed the affected populations that the provincial directorate in charge of humanitarian aid is offering the Tangambilin site in sector N3 of Boulsa, previously occupied by internally displaced persons (IDPs), as a temporary relocation option.

The High Commissioner emphasized that the construction of the wall is intended to benefit the students and the broader population, noting that the lack of adequate infrastructure in Namentenga has previously led new graduates to seek opportunities in Loumbila. Despite understanding the situation, residents have expressed their desire to be provided with land to rebuild their homes. A resident highlighted the need for land to reconstruct living spaces, while a teacher, Salam Dabilgou, pointed out that his land, acquired through loans and housing nearly thirty IDPs, is affected by the project.

A census conducted by the town hall's land department identified 74 concessions in the Boulsa technical high school area, with 15 situated directly on the axis of the boundary wall.
